Clinical Supervision
A Supportive Space for Your Professional Development
I offer person-centred, integrative clinical supervision for counsellors, psychotherapists and other therapeutic practitioners. My approach is collaborative, reflective and developmental, providing a safe and supportive space where you can explore your client work, professional relationships, ethical considerations and your own experience as a practitioner.
My Approach to Supervision
I believe supervision should bring out the best in the practitioner, rather than simply tell them how they should work. I place the supervisee at the centre of the supervisory relationship, recognising your existing knowledge, experience and individual therapeutic identity.
I work dynamically and integratively, adapting supervision according to your level of experience, therapeutic approach, client work and professional development needs.
Reflective Practice
Supervision provides an opportunity to think more deeply about what happens within therapy, including the therapeutic relationship, emotional responses, boundaries, challenges and aspects of the work that may initially be outside awareness.
I encourage curiosity and honest reflection rather than judgement, helping you consider both the client's process and your own use of self within the therapeutic relationship.
Supporting Safe & Ethical Practice
An important function of supervision is maintaining safe, ethical and professionally responsible practice. Together we can explore ethical dilemmas, boundaries, safeguarding and risk, confidentiality, contracting and other challenges arising within therapeutic work.
Supervision also provides space to recognise the limits of our competence and consider when additional knowledge, consultation, training or referral may be appropriate.
Integrative Supervision
My own practice is grounded in Person-Centred Counselling and Integrative Psychotherapy, alongside extensive training and experience across other therapeutic approaches.
This breadth allows me to supervise practitioners working in different ways while remaining interested in your own theoretical orientation, rather than expecting you to practise in the same way that I do.
Working with Complex Client Work
My professional experience includes working with trauma and complex trauma, domestic abuse, young people, mental health difficulties and neurodivergent clients, alongside a broad range of emotional and psychological concerns.
Supervision can provide a containing space in which to explore demanding or complex work while considering the needs of the client, the therapeutic relationship and the impact of the work upon you as the practitioner.
Practitioner Wellbeing & Self-Care
I see the wellbeing of the practitioner as an important part of ethical and sustainable practice. Supervision therefore includes space to consider workload, boundaries, emotional impact, resilience and self-care, particularly when working with challenging or emotionally demanding material.
Developing Your Own Therapeutic Identity
Whether you are a trainee, newly qualified or experienced practitioner, supervision can support you in developing greater confidence in your own judgement and therapeutic identity.
My aim is to offer an environment that combines support, reflection and constructive challenge, enabling you to continue developing as an autonomous, self-aware and ethically grounded practitioner.
Online & Face-to-Face Supervision
I offer supervision in a way that supports an ongoing professional relationship and provides regular opportunities for reflection, development and review.
Please contact me to discuss your supervision requirements and whether my approach would be a good fit for you.
Professional Informative Supportive
My approach to supervision is person-centred, integrative and developmental, creating a safe, nurturing and collaborative space in which supervisees can reflect openly on their client work, professional practice and use of self. I work dynamically according to the individual needs, experience and development of each supervisee, drawing on my knowledge of different therapeutic approaches where appropriate. I aim to balance support with constructive challenge, encouraging reflexivity, ethical awareness, professional boundaries and self-care, while empowering supervisees to develop confidence in their own therapeutic identity, judgement and way of working.
